Twenty six of us enjoyed delicious food and lively conversation at Lovitt Restaurant on January 16. Thanks to Kristen and Norman Six for hosting our meeting!
Sarah Bouska presented information on the Heritage Orchard project. The National Park Service is considering the creation/preservation of an orchard. Currently the site receiving most consideration is in the Fort Spokane area. We discussed the possibility of our involvement in the project if the orchard were to be located somewhere along the upper Columbia. There is a great deal of planning and study to be done before the Park Service will make a commitment. We voted to offer our support to the project in this early stage. There was discussion of other groups which may also lend their support including the Master Gardeners, the Colville Garden Club, Kettle Falls Middle and High School and Native Plants (Spokane). Sarah will keep us informed as the project moves forward.
